The Role
We're seeking a Senior Data Manager to lead our data organization and shape how we leverage data to drive product decisions, optimize platform performance, and deliver insights that empower our fundraisers and donors. You'll oversee a team of data analysts and engineers, establishing the data strategy and infrastructure that enables LaunchGood to scale intelligently.
This is a high-impact leadership role where you'll bridge technical execution and business strategy, working closely with Product, Engineering, Finance, and Operations to transform data into actionable insights that drive our mission forward.
What You'll DoLead & Develop the Team
- Manage and mentor a team of data analysts and analytical engineers, fostering a culture of excellence, curiosity, and continuous learning
- Define team structure, roles, and career development paths as we scale
- Build processes for collaboration, code review, and knowledge sharing
- Recruit and onboard exceptional data talent
Drive Data Strategy
- Define and execute the data roadmap aligned with company objectives and product priorities
- Identify opportunities where data can unlock new insights or drive business value
- Partner with leadership to translate business questions into data solutions
- Champion data-driven decision making across the organization
Own Data Infrastructure & Architecture
- Oversee data warehouse design and optimization in Google BigQuery
- Ensure data pipelines are reliable, scalable, and maintainable
- Establish data governance, quality standards, and documentation practices
- Design data models that support both operational and analytical workloads
- Evaluate and implement tools for orchestration, transformation, and monitoring
Enable Business Intelligence
- Lead development of dashboards and visualizations in Looker
- Partner with stakeholders to understand reporting needs and deliver self-service analytics
- Build KPI frameworks and metrics that matter for fundraisers, donors, and internal teams
- Create data products that democratize insights across the organization
Ensure Compliance & Security
- Implement data security best practices for sensitive financial and personal information
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations (PCI-DSS, GDPR, financial services standards)
- Establish data retention, privacy, and access control policies
What You BringRequired:
- 5+ years of experience in data/analytics roles with 3+ years leading teams
- Work EST hours, 40 hour a week
- Deep expertise with Google BigQuery, including performance optimization, cost management, and advanced SQL
- Strong proficiency in Looker or similar BI platforms (Tableau, Power BI, Metabase)
- Proven experience building and scaling data warehouses and ETL/ELT pipelines
- Solid understanding of data modeling (dimensional modeling, star schema etc.)
- Track record of translating complex business requirements into technical solutions
- Experience with orchestration tools (Airflow, Dagster, Prefect, etc.)
- Strong programming skills in Python or similar languages
- Excellent communication skills; able to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Strategic mindset with ability to balance short-term needs with long-term vision
- Demonstrated leadership in hiring, mentoring, and developing high-performing teams
Preferred:
- Experience in fintech, payments, or financial services
- Familiarity with crowdfunding, marketplace, or two-sided platform dynamics
- Experience with dbt (data build tool) for transformation workflows
- Knowledge of streaming data and event-driven architectures
- Understanding of statistical analysis and experimentation frameworks
- Familiarity with modern data stack tools (Fivetran, Stitch, Census, Hightouch)
- Experience working in Kubernetes environments or with containerized workflows
- Background in compliance-heavy industries with sensitive data requirements
