M&F Talent is representing a provider of greenhouse automation, environmental controls, and horticultural technology solutions that is seeking a Field Service Technician to support customers in the United States. This role will focus on the installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance of advanced greenhouse control systems, climate computers, irrigation equipment, and related automation technologies. The ideal candidate will combine strong technical skills with excellent customer service abilities and a willingness to travel to customer sites to ensure successful system performance and customer satisfaction. Position Snapshot Location: United States (Remote / Field-Based) Job Type: Full-Time Travel: Extensive regional and occasional international travel required Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, test, and commission greenhouse automation systems, climate computers, irrigation equipment, software platforms, and networked control systems.
- Perform startup, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair services on customer equipment.
- Provide technical support to customers both remotely and on-site, minimizing system downtime and ensuring optimal performance.
- Investigate and resolve hardware, software, networking, and control system issues.
- Perform software updates, system upgrades, and commissioning activities for new installations.
- Educate customers on preventative maintenance practices and system operation.
- Accurately document service activities, work orders, labor hours, travel, and parts usage within company systems.
- Coordinate with internal engineering, operations, sales, and support teams to resolve technical issues and improve customer outcomes.
- Identify additional service opportunities and communicate recommendations to customers and management.
- Maintain compliance with all safety procedures, environmental regulations, and company policies.
- Manage service inventory and ensure required parts and tools are available for assigned projects.
Requirements
- Technical education or training in Electrical, Electronic, Electromechanical, Mechatronics, Automation, Controls, or a related field.
- 2–5 years of experience working with industrial automation, controls systems, irrigation systems, process automation, electrical systems, or related technologies.
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills across electrical, mechanical, and automation systems.
- Experience with networking, sensors, control systems, or industrial software platforms is preferred.
- Ability to read electrical schematics, technical documentation, and system diagrams.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently in a field-based environment.
- Valid driver’s license and passport with the ability to travel throughout North America and internationally when required.
- Ability to work at heights and in industrial or greenhouse environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in greenhouse, horticulture, controlled environment agriculture (CEA), or agricultural technology environments.
- Familiarity with climate control systems, irrigation automation, environmental controls, or greenhouse management platforms.
- Experience commissioning automation systems and supporting customers in the field.
