Build the Future of AI Infrastructure We are building the AI Operating System for data — a dynamic ontology engine that makes sense of all forms of structured and unstructured data, and a new class of AI workers capable of executing autonomous workflows with transparent human reasoning inside real tools. We’re creating the AI middleware for the world, allowing AI to understand data like data teams do — to reason, plan, and act inside real systems. Already working with recognized global companies across fintech, travel, insurance, gaming, and logistics, we are solving real, messy problems and defining a new software category from scratch. We have paying clients, have raised funding, and are ready to release what we’ve built to the world. The Role As Founding Staff Engineer, you will take ownership of core AI infrastructure and software engineering — from automated semantic layers and complex agent orchestration to reasoning engines and scalable execution logic. This is a hands-on, zero-to-one role where you will work directly with the leadership team to shape the architecture, design intelligent autonomous systems, and build infrastructure that will scale with growth. What You’ll Own

• Build Core Agent Infrastructure: Scalable agent orchestration, task planning, memory, and execution logic using Python and open-source LLM frameworks (LangChain, LlamaIndex, etc).
• Engineer Automated Ontology Systems: Design semantic layers that unify structured and unstructured sources into a shared “data brain.”
• Own the Agent Runtime: Create robust planning, tool execution, and observability for distributed autonomous systems.
• Scale Data Infrastructure: Build and maintain metadata stores, connectors, ETL, and vectorized storage (Chroma, Pinecone, Weaviate).
• Advance Reasoning Engines: Develop hybrid LLM + symbolic reasoning pipelines, task decomposition frameworks, and long-term memory systems.
• Define Engineering Culture: Set high standards for architecture, quality, and speed; mentor engineers, and contribute to early hiring decisions.
• Go Full-Stack When Needed: Ship backend APIs or rapid frontends to gather feedback and iterate quickly.

What We’re Looking For

• 5+ years in backend, infrastructure, or AI systems engineering roles.
• Deep Python expertise, with production experience using LLMs, LangChain, vector databases, or custom LLM tooling.
• Agentic Systems Experience: Building reasoning, memory, tool-use, and semantic data layers.
• Expertise in ontology development, schema reconciliation, and knowledge graphs.
• Strong foundation in modern data infra (dbt, BigQuery, Airflow) and cloud platforms (GCP or AWS).
• Background in symbolic AI, reasoning systems, or semantic data modeling is a major plus.
• Prior experience at early-stage startups (you thrive in ambiguity and velocity).
• Exposure to data-native companies like Palantir, DeepMind, Databricks, Snowflake, or similar.
• Demonstrated passion: side projects, open-source contributions, coding competitions, or tool-building for fun.
• AI-First Mindset: Daily use of AI tools (Cursor, Windsurf, Cody, etc.) to 10x your output.
• Execution Focus: High grit, ownership mentality, bias toward action, and comfort with deadlines.
• Hands-on builder mindset — you prioritize shipping and iterating over managing people.
