Title: Business Intelligence Developer Location: Remote (with CST and EST time zones preferred) Department: Information Technology - Business Intelligence Reports To: VP, Information Technology Job Type: Full-Time | Non-Exempt | Individual Contributor Salary: $90k - $110k base salary Why Join New Story? We are looking for a mid-level Business Intelligence Developer to join our small, agile, and highly collaborative BI team. In this role, you’ll be hands-on across the full data lifecycle from ETL and data modeling, to Power BI dashboard development to deliver reliable and actionable insights to stakeholders across the organization. This position is fully remote, offering the flexibility to contribute from anywhere while being part of a fast-paced and mission-driven team. Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain ETL pipelines to consolidate data from various sources into a centralized data warehouse.
- Troubleshoot and correct pipeline failures; assist in root cause analysis to prevent recurring failures.
- Build and maintain robust data models that support scalable reporting.
- Develop and optimize Power BI reports and dashboards that present data clearly and effectively to end users.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand data needs, gather requirements, and deliver accurate, timely insights.
- Ensure data quality, consistency, and performance across all BI solutions.
- Assist in maintaining documentation and data definitions to support data governance and data literacy across the organization.
- Proactively identify opportunities to improve data architecture and BI processes.
Minimum Qualifications
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in BI development, analytics engineering, or a related role.
- Strong SQL skills for querying, transforming, and validating data.
- Experience designing and building ETL pipelines using tools such as Azure Data Factory, SSIS, or similar.
- Proficient in Power BI, including Power Query (M), DAX, and dashboard development.
- Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python) for data manipulation and automation.
- Solid understanding of data modeling techniques, such as star and snowflake schemas.
- Comfortable working independently in a remote environment and communicating proactively with cross-functional teams.
Preferred (Nice To Have) Qualifications
- Experience working with cloud data platforms (e.g., Azure)
- Exposure to data cataloging, metadata management, or data governance tools.
- Experience working across web development, data engineering and application stack integration.
