This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior Data Engineer who enjoys large-scale distributed systems, modern Lakehouse architecture, and solving complex data challenges.

As a Senior Data Engineer, you will join a highly skilled engineering team responsible for developing and optimising large-scale distributed data pipelines. Apache Spark sits at the core of the data platform, powering the broader Lakehouse ecosystem built on modern technologies such as Delta Lake and Databricks.

You will design, develop, and enhance high-performance data workflows, contribute to technical strategy, and play a key role in evolving a scalable, cloud-native architecture. This is a role for an engineer who enjoys ownership, collaboration, and working on impactful, data-driven products used across global enterprise environments.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Design, build and optimise distributed data pipelines using Apache Spark.
• Develop both batch and streaming solutions aligned with modern Lakehouse patterns.
• Work extensively within Databricks (or quickly ramp up if new to the platform).
• Apply deep Spark knowledge for tuning, troubleshooting, and scaling distributed workloads.
• Ingest structured, semi-structured and unstructured datasets into the Lakehouse.
• Act as a senior specialist in Spark-based engineering and best practices.
• Lead and participate in code reviews, ensuring high engineering standards.
• Contribute to defining engineering patterns and guidelines for data producers.

What You’ll Bring

• 8+ years’ experience in software or data engineering.
• Strong background in distributed data processing and cloud data ecosystems.
• Deep hands-on expertise with Apache Spark (DataFrame API, Spark SQL, optimisation).
• Proficiency in Python and SQL.
• Experience designing ETL/ELT pipelines and modern data workflows.
• Strong working knowledge of Git and CI/CD tools (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Octopus etc.).
• Production experience with Databricks (Delta Lake, notebooks, workflows).

Salary: €80,000 - €90,000 DOEHealthcare, Pension, Bonus and Remote first in Ireland.
