We’re looking for an experienced Client Manager to take full ownership of a portfolio of clients and deliver high-quality bookkeeping, payroll, compliance and reporting work - independently, and to a consistent standard.
This is not a role for someone who has been adjacent to these responsibilities. You will have held them directly, managed the workload that comes with them, and be ready to do so again without a ramp-up period.

About the role
You’ll be responsible for:
- Managing ongoing client relationships and day-to-day communication
- End-to-end bookkeeping across multiple entities
- BAS and IAS preparation and lodgements
- Payroll processing including STP, superannuation, payroll tax and WorkCover
- Accounts payable and receivable
- Monthly and quarterly account reviews and reporting
- Reviewing the work of bookkeepers in your team and providing constructive feedback
- Identifying opportunities for streamlining, automation and process improvement
- Daily use of Xero, Karbon, Employment Hero Payroll, Dext and related systems
This role suits someone who takes ownership of their work, manages competing deadlines without needing to be chased, and holds themselves to a high standard without being prompted.
What we’re looking for
You’ll need:
- Minimum 5 years hands-on, end-to-end Australian bookkeeping experience - covering the full scope of this role
- Experience working within a bookkeeping firm or outsourced bookkeeping environment - in-house experience alone will not meet this requirement
- Strong, practical experience across BAS, IAS, payroll, super, WorkCover, payroll tax, AP and AR
- High proficiency in Xero - non-negotiable
- Experience reviewing and managing the work of other team members
- Comfort with technology - you pick up new tools quickly and are at ease in a cloud-based environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- A qualification in bookkeeping or accounting
- Fathom experience is a plus
- Childcare industry experience is a significant advantage
Salary & conditions
- $90,000 - $95,000 + super, depending on experience
- Full-time, permanent role
- Remote position (Australia-based; Victorian applicants preferred)
- Applicants from other states will be considered for the right candidate
- All work is completed during standard business hours Monday to Friday
