Director, FP&A, SaaS (Revenue and Strategic Finance)
Remote, United States or Montreal, QC | Permanent, full time
Bay Street Staffing is partnering with a publicly traded global SaaS company in digital identity, fraud prevention and digital agreements to hire a Director, FP&A.
This is a SaaS finance role. The company is moving its business to subscription and bringing recent acquisitions into one view of recurring revenue. This role owns the numbers behind that shift: bookings, ARR, retention and churn. It shapes how leadership and the Board see them, and has a real hand in pricing the deals. If you have not forecast ARR at a software company, this is not the right role for you.
What you'll own
- Software bookings, new ACV and renewal ACV budgeting and forecasting, worldwide. Software is the large majority of company revenue.
- The ARR roll-forward: reconciling bookings to reported ARR and explaining what drives net retention, gross retention and churn.
- The long-range plan, including the multi-year software revenue build and the scenario analysis behind strategic decisions.
- Pricing approval on most software deals, with the judgment to escalate the large, complex or unusual ones.
- Monthly and quarterly forecasts, the monthly business review, the executive dashboard, and the analysis that goes into Board and earnings materials.
- An existing reporting system built in Excel, Power Query and documented Python, which you'll run, improve and extend.
- Partnering with Accounting, Revenue Operations and Sales leadership so forecasts and results tie cleanly to the underlying systems.
- Developing your direct report, a Manager of Strategic Finance.
What you bring
- 10+ years in finance, including managing people.
- Hands-on FP&A or strategic finance experience at a SaaS or subscription software company, where you owned the bookings, ARR or recurring revenue forecast that senior leadership relied on.
- Working fluency in SaaS metrics: ARR, ACV, net and gross retention, churn, bookings-to-revenue, and how a subscription transition changes each of them.
- Strong financial modeling, including taking over a model someone else built, working out its logic, stress-testing it and building on it.
- Comfort with messy, incomplete data, and the drive to keep going until the numbers tie.
- Clear storytelling in slides for executive and Board audiences.
- Advanced Excel, including Power Query, and the ability to work in an existing Python framework.
- Sound judgment on what to decide yourself and what to escalate.
- An undergraduate degree.
Nice to have
- Experience through a licence-to-subscription transition or integrating acquired ARR.
- Deal desk or pricing experience in software.
- Hands-on Python.
- Salesforce, Workday Adaptive Planning, Tableau or Power BI, Think-Cell.
- Public company experience. An MBA, CFA or relevant master's.
Why this role
- A lean finance team, so you'll touch more of the business than a typical FP&A role.
- Real autonomy: you own the long-range plan and most pricing decisions.
- Direct line of sight into Board and investor reporting.
- A working system you can modernize and make your own.
- A hiring team that moves quickly, with the goal of a start before year end.
Location and compensation
Based anywhere in the United States, with occasional travel to Boston for planning cycles, or in Montreal, where the company has a large finance team.
US base salary: $185,000 to $205,000 USD, plus annual bonus and equity. Montreal compensation is set to the local market.
