About the role

About Providi

Providi is the company behind Cerbo and OptiMantra, two practice management and EHR products built for the cash-pay personalized care market. Together they serve nearly 7,000 clinics, from functional, integrative and longevity practices to direct primary care, concierge, med spa and behavioral health.

Both products have served providers since 2011. Today we work as one team with one mission: to empower personalized care providers to deliver better patient outcomes and create thriving

practices.

We are provider-first. We build the technology, data and tools that give independent providers the autonomy to run their practices their way. That means configurable clinical workflows, lab integrations, scheduling, billing and patient engagement, with more on the way.

Our name says what we do. “Provi” comes from provider, the people we build for. “Vidi” is Latin for “I see.” We see where personalized care is going, and we build for it.

Position Summary

We're hiring a Staff Software Engineer to set the technical bar for how we build — and to raise the output of everyone around them. This is a hands-on, high-leverage role. You'll ship meaningful features yourself, but your biggest impact will come from making the whole team faster, sharper, and more confident in what they ship.

You'll partner closely with Product, Design, Support, and clinical stakeholders to decide what to build, not just how. You'll own ambiguous, cross-cutting problems from first conversation to measurable outcome. And you'll do it in a remote-first team where clear writing and deliberate communication are how work actually gets done.

We care about outcomes, not stacks. You'll work across a mature production platform and help shape where it goes next, choosing the right tool for the problem rather than the problem for the tool.

Primary Responsibilities

Build what matters

  • Lead the design and delivery of complex, high-impact features end to end — from problem discovery through rollout, adoption, and iteration.
  • Shape the product alongside PMs and designers: challenge requirements, propose simpler paths, and spot the opportunity behind a customer request.
  • Define what success looks like before you build, then instrument and measure it after you ship.

Accelerate the team

  • Find the bottlenecks that slow engineering down — in code, tooling, testing, release, or process — and fix them.
  • Mentor engineers across levels; make the people around you better at scoping, designing, debugging, and shipping.
  • Lead the adoption of AI-assisted development in a way that measurably improves speed and quality

Contribute to the technical direction

  • Help with architecture decisions for systems that span teams and products, balancing near-term delivery against long-term health.
  • Identify and pay down the technical debt that actually limits the business, and make the case for it in business terms.
  • Champion reliability, performance, security, and privacy in a platform that handles protected health information.

Communicate like it's part of the job (because it is)

  • Keep stakeholders informed with concise, proactive written updates.
  • Translate between technical and non-technical audiences by explaining trade-offs toProduct and leadership.
  • Represent engineering in cross-functional planning and help turn strategy into an executable roadmap.

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, including meaningful time operating at a senior or staff level.
  • Deep expertise in at least one modern backend ecosystem, and the range to work comfortably across the stack.
  • A track record of designing, shipping, and operating production systems at scale in the cloud — including the on-call, incident, and observability realities that come with them.
  • Strong system design skills: data modeling, APIs and integrations, distributed systems, and performance at scale.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership without formal authority — you've set direction, built consensus, and moved a team to a better place.
  • Experience mentoring engineers and improving how a team plans, builds, tests, and releases software.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, with a history of effective work on a remote or distributed team.

Who You Are

We hire for how you think and how you work as much as for what you know. The engineers who thrive here share a few traits.

  • You're a product-minded builder. You don't wait for a perfect spec. You ask who the user is, what they're trying to get done, and what happens if we don't build this at all. You've pushed back on a feature and been right, and you've cut scope to ship something better, sooner.
  • You're an accelerator. Your impact shows up in the team's output, not just your own. You've introduced a process, tool, or system change that made a team measurably faster or more reliable and you got people to actually adopt it.
  • You're outcome-minded. You start with the problem, not the technology. You'd rather ship a boring solution that gives a clinician time back than an elegant one nobody asked for. You judge your work by what changed for the customer.
  • You communicate with intent. In a remote-first company, writing is how decisions get made and context gets shared. You write clearly and concisely, you over-communicate status and risk, and you know when a thread needs to become a call. People leave conversations with you knowing what was decided and what happens next.

AI fluency

  • You use AI coding and agentic tools daily and can show where they've made you and your team faster.
  • You know how to give these tools the right context, structure, and constraints to get reliable results.
  • You understand the limits — hallucination, context constraints, non-determinism —and design workflows that account for them.
  • You can help define team practices and guardrails for using AI safely in a regulated environment.

What We Offer

  • Competitive compensation based on experience
  • Paid Time Off and company holidays
  • Comprehensive health, dental and vision benefits
  • Short-term and long-term disability Insurance
  • 401k plan with matching company contribution
  • Real ownership and impact in a fast-growing health tech company
