Forward Deployed Engineer | Remote | Up to £95,000
I’m working with a fast-growing technology business that is looking for a Forward Deployed Engineer to work directly with customers and turn complex problems into practical technical solutions.
This is a hands-on engineering role sitting between software engineering, product and customer delivery. You’ll work closely with users to understand how they operate, identify opportunities to improve their workflows, and build and deploy solutions that have a direct impact.
What you’ll be doing:
- Working directly with customers to understand their technical and operational challenges
- Designing, building and deploying software solutions to solve real-world problems
- Working across the full development lifecycle, from initial discovery through to production
- Integrating APIs, data sources and third-party systems into customer environments
- Automating manual processes and improving existing workflows
- Feeding customer requirements and learnings back into the wider engineering and product teams
- Troubleshooting issues and iterating quickly based on customer feedback
- Balancing speed of delivery with good engineering practices and long-term maintainability
What we’re looking for:
- Commercial software engineering experience with a strong hands-on development background
- Strong Python, TypeScript, JavaScript or similar programming experience
- Experience working with APIs, databases, cloud platforms and integrations
- Someone comfortable operating in ambiguous environments and figuring things out independently
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work directly with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- A genuine interest in understanding business problems, rather than simply building to a predefined specification
- Experience with AI/LLMs, automation or data-heavy products would be beneficial
