Senior Director - Applied Behavioural Science

We're now looking for a Director-level Applied Behavioural Scientist to play a key role in our next chapter of growth. This is a senior, highly consultative role for someone who loves being close to the work – commercially minded, intellectually rigorous and comfortable leading research from problem definition through to intervention design and execution. You'll partner directly with ASX-listed clients, work closely with engineers and collaborate with behavioural scientists to help shape how applied behavioural science evolves in an AI-enabled world.

What you'll be doing:

• Leading complex behavioural science engagements end-to-end – owning the work with little to no oversight, from problem definition through to real-world activation
• Designing and overseeing mixed-methods research grounded in behavioural theory, with particular strength in quantitative methods
• Translating insight into behavioural priorities, interventions and action plans – including content and asset optimisation, behavioural jobs-to-be-done and intervention design
• Advising senior stakeholders on behaviour change strategies
• Collaborating with engineers to systematise proven behavioural science frameworks and methodologies – translating what works into technology that can be deployed at scale
• Building trusted client relationships and growing accounts over time – strong delivery is expected to lead directly to deeper partnerships
• Driving new business opportunities – identifying, pursuing and winning work is a core part of this role, with revenue KPIs and bonus tied to growth

What we're looking for:

• 10+ years of experience in applied behavioural science, with a track record built in commercial or insights environments – purely academic backgrounds are not a fit for this role
• Deep expertise in applied behavioural science, behavioural economics or psychology; a Master's or PhD in a relevant field is highly regarded
• Strong quantitative research capability is essential, with solid qualitative skills alongside
• Cross-sector experience – someone who has worked meaningfully across multiple verticals, not anchored in a single sector or primarily government work
• A current or recent Director-level title, or equivalent
• Someone still genuinely on the tools – if the role has shifted to managing people and stepping back from delivery, this isn't the right fit
• Commercial acumen and confidence growing client relationships, with a strong personal network that can be activated from day one
• A genuine appetite for business development – someone who enjoys the sales dimension of the role
• Highly organised, able to juggle multiple client engagements simultaneously without missed deadlines
• Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, and a genuine drive to exceed client expectations – not just meet them
• Strong enthusiasm for AI-enabled ways of working, ideally with hands-on experience already
