Job Description

Posted on: December 17, 2025

Job Summary:

The Head of Human Resources will be a key member of UK’s senior management team and will play a central role in shaping, strengthening, and embedding a people-first culture as the organisation continues to grow.

This role is ideal for an ambitious HR professional from an SME background, ideally with experience in a private equity-backed business, who is ready to step up into a broader leadership position.

They will combine strategic thinking with hands-on delivery, bringing energy, commercial acumen, and a genuine partnership mindset. This role offers the opportunity to both lead the current HR function and evolve into a more strategic leadership position as it scales.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, develop, and manage the HR function (team of 3), ensuring delivery of a high-quality, professional, and efficient service across all people-related matters.
  • Partner with the CEO and leadership team to shape and implement HR strategies aligned with business growth objectives.
  • Act as a collaborative and proactive business partner - trusted, commercially minded, and a true cultural ambassador who builds trust through delivery rather than hierarchy or politics.
  • Support organisational design, workforce planning, and change management initiatives, including TUPE transfers and integration activities.
  • Provide pragmatic and expert advice on employee relations, performance management, and employment law.
  • Lead on recruitment, onboarding, and retention strategies to attract and retain top talent across multiple UK sites.
  • Develop and maintain HR policies and procedures in line with legislation and best practice.
  • Champion employee engagement and well-being, ensuring the company remains a supportive and motivating workplace.
  • Oversee compensation, benefits, and performance frameworks that reward high performance and align with business goals.
  • Monitor HR metrics and analytics, reporting regularly to the leadership team on key people insights and risks.
  • Use data to uncover the drivers behind trends (e.g. retention, absence, engagement), translating insights into practical actions and measurable improvements.
  • Coach and develop managers to build leadership capability across the business.
  • Lead learning and development initiatives to build organisational capability, from management skills to technical and leadership development.
  • Develop succession and talent pipelines to support internal growth and reduce organisational risk.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including external advisers and partners.
  • Work closely with operational leaders to understand business drivers, ensuring people initiatives directly support performance, service quality, and growth.
  • Promote a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion across all people processes.
  • Drive a positive, consistent employee experience from onboarding to exit, strengthening the company employer brand.
  • Act as a key change leader, supporting transformation, integration, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Oversee and enhance HR systems and processes to improve efficiency, data quality, and insight, partnering with Finance and Operations to align people and business data.
  • Support the organisation’s ESG and social value commitments through people practices that promote sustainability, inclusion, and community impact.

Essential Experience:

  • Proven HR leadership experience within an SME or fast-growing organisation.
  • Must have healthsector experience.
  • Exposure to private equity or investor-backed business environments.
  • Strong technical HR knowledge including TUPE, employee relations, and UK employment law.
  • Experience managing and developing small HR teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate both strategically and tactically in a hands-on role.
  • Proven ability to align people strategy with commercial and operational priorities.
  • Track record of building positive, collaborative relationships at all levels.

Desirable:

  • Experience working in a healthcare, technology, or services environment.
  • Previous experience supporting multi-site or operationally complex organisations.
  • HR Leadership experience.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • MCIPD or FCIPD qualified (or equivalent experience).
  • Comprehensive understanding of employment legislation and HR best practice.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills with strong emotional intelligence.
  • Commercially astute with a proactive, solutions-focused mindset.
  • High degree of professionalism, integrity, and discretion.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Highly comfortable with data and analytics - able to interpret, challenge, and act on key workforce and business metrics.
  • Proficient in HR systems and data-driven decision-making.

Personal Attributes

  • Collaborative, open, and approachable with a strong sense of professionalism.
  • Energetic and pragmatic - a genuine collaborator who partners with the business to get things done.
  • Adaptable and resilient, comfortable operating in a changing and fast-paced environment.
  • Culturally aligned, values teamwork, accountability, and courage.
  • A leader who inspires, empowers, and grows others.
  • High energy, proactive, and accountable, takes ownership and drives initiatives through to completion.
  • Keen to grow with the business and take on broader strategic and transformational responsibilities over time.
  • Keen to grow with the business and take on broader responsibilities over time.

General Accountabilities

  • Actively commit to the culture, vision, and values.
  • Ensure patients and clients experience the highest levels of service and professionalism.
  • Comply with all relevant company policies and statutory requirements.
  • Be prepared and able to travel within the UK as required.
