About The Role

We are seeking a highly motivated Staff Machine Learning Software Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be instrumental in developing our next-generation platforms dedicated to real-time inventory understanding, observation, and prediction. Your expertise will help scale warehouse-level precision to local store levels, ensuring our customers receive accurate and timely information about product availability. You will bring a systems-thinking approach to establish strategic technical investments, fostering a culture of best practices in machine learning. Collaborating closely with software engineers, product managers, and data scientists, you will introduce advanced technologies and drive innovative product solutions. Your work will directly impact core aspects of our platform, including search, logistics, and shelf data supply chains, ultimately enhancing the customer experience and operational efficiency.

The inventory intelligence team is a high-performance unit responsible for maintaining an accurate, real-time view of store shelves. This team manages end-to-end processes, from ingesting data from partners to collecting novel inventory observations, developing models, and integrating products seamlessly. Your role will involve owning complex outcomes that span multiple models and data sources, developing strategic roadmaps for inventory dynamics, and making informed technology choices based on problem maturity. You will also mentor team members, introduce innovative technologies, and foster a culture of excellence in machine learning practices.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of production machine learning experience with a proven track record of managing multiple successful projects
• Proficiency in Python and experience with either TensorFlow or PyTorch
• Strong foundation in testing, systems observability, and problem-solving techniques
• Exceptional communication skills with the ability to lead and collaborate across diverse teams including software engineers, product managers, and data scientists
• Experience in building scalable solutions and architectures
• Experience in developing new projects from inception through to second-generation deployment

• Own end-to-end outcomes that require integrating multiple models, data sources, and dynamic systems
• Develop and execute strategic roadmaps for modeling inventory dynamics in various observation-density regimes
• Select appropriate technologies based on problem maturity and requirements
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure a unified development approach, fostering consensus and effective outcomes
• Contribute directly to projects from inception to deployment and ongoing maintenance
• Mentor team members, introduce advanced machine learning technologies, and promote best practices within the team
