Overview:

The Associate Software Developer performs a variety of programming assignments requiring knowledge of established programming procedures and data processing requirements. Responsibilities include maintaining and modifying programs, designing, building and implementing new Web pages and sites, and using a variety of Web development languages and technologies.

Essential Functions:

  • Code, test, and troubleshoot programs utilizing the appropriate hardware, database, and programming technology
  • Contribute to the analysis of functional requirements
  • Test and develop programming modifications
  • Display your passion for quality and writing clean and robust code that scales and performs well
  • Analyze performance of programs and take action to correct deficiences based on consultation with users, supervisor, and other project team members
  • Problem-solve and think laterally as part of a team, or individually, to meet the needs of the project
  • Understand standard systems development lifecycle processes and apply our methodologies effectively on client engagements
  • Adhere to coding standards defined by technical management
  • Maintain confidentiality with regard to the information being processed, stored or accessed
  • Perform additional tasks as needed to meet the needs of the team and department, and to support Silverchair's business needs
  • Demonstrate proficiency in leveraging Artificial Intelligence tools and technologies to enhance workflow efficiency, automate repetitive tasks, and/or derive actionable insights.
  • AI Utilization
  • Maintain AI literacy and understanding of ethical AI applications in academic publishing and scholarly communications
  • Demonstrate basic prompt engineering skills for effective AI tool utilization
  • Exercise judgment in determining when AI assistance is and is not appropriate for tasks
  • Ensure compliance with Silverchair's AI usage policies and data protection requirements
  • Collaborate effectively with AI tools while maintaining human oversight and professional standards
  • Apply advanced prompt patterns for generating high-quality, maintainable code that meets established standards.
  • Design AI integration architectures that incorporate machine learning models into existing software systems.
  • Optimize AI-enhanced applications for performance, including model inference and resource management in production.
  • Implement responsible AI practices including monitoring, bias detection, and ethical governance frameworks.
  • Train AI systems on Silverchair-specific workflows, domain knowledge, and business processes.

Required Skills:

Qualified candidates will have the desire to thrive in a collaborative, team-oriented environment, the ability to quickly learn and effectively apply new technologies and concepts, and the initiative to excel in a high-performance work culture.

Desired Experience:

  • 0 to 3 years' experience with Microsoft web technologies, including ASP.NET, C#, VB.NET, and the .NET Framework
  • 0 to 3 years' experience using MS SQL Server, should be able to write and optimize SQL code
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related degree, lower degrees must be supplemented with additional relevant experience
  • Ability to build Software as a Service (SaaS) applications understanding and coding to meet requirements in an Object Oriented manner
  • Knowledge and experience in other technologies and languages such as HTML, DHTML, CSS, AJAX, JavaScript, JQuery, and XML is a plus
