The primary role of the Internal Quality Assurance Manager is to plan, monitor and evaluate the quality of all training and assessment activities. Ensuring full compliance with internal policies and standards and the Ofsted framework. Required to regularly observe tutor/assessor performance and proactively seek to identify development needs to improve the quality of teaching and assessment for pedagogical as well as industry knowledge and skills.

- Based at home with flexible work patterns available (part-time working may be considered).
- Required to travel infrequently for internal and external meetings.
- Required to proactively maintain knowledge and skills through regular review of CPD to include maintaining knowledge of teaching and assessment, IQA processes, apprenticeship funding, KCSIE, safeguarding and education themes such as Prevent, Online Safety, British Values, Healthy Relationships and SEND to include the Plan Do Act Review process.
- Required to represent the company for Ofsted visits as either nominee or shadow nominee.
- Required to attend governance meetings to provide updates on curriculum, teaching and training as well as achievement, participation and engagement.
- Follow procedures for the recording, storing and reporting and confidentiality of information in alignment with GDPR policy.
- Responsible for ensuring that all teaching and assessment methods are consistently safe, fair, valid and reliable.
Main role and responsibilities:
- Manage a schedule of monitoring activities to ensure that all agreed activities are completed. This includes observing the work of tutors and soliciting feedback from learners and employers.
- To ensure the standardisation of teaching and assessment practice in alignment with OFSTED guidance, this includes completing a wide range of IQA tasks.
- Responsible for checking learner data and to approve learner records prior to ILR submission, to include checking for change of learner status and funding issues.
- Collect and collate survey information and report on findings to include recommendations.
- Read, interpret and summarise government information to include weekly updates as well as annual review of KCSIE and funding guidelines, create clear actions and share with the team.
- Monitoring KPIs and prepare reports in preparation for internal meetings to include taking minutes and updating the QIP.
- Support the business with audit planning and preparation for both EV as well as audits from DfE and Ofsted.
- Management of controlled documents to include version control.
- Monitoring and review of all education policies to include quality management and teaching.
- Monitoring of Safeguarding register, SEND support plans, English and Maths development, IAG/Careers guidance as well as to report on achievements and impact.
- Monitor and control all communication channels to ensure compliance with best practice.
- Support the annual SAR process to include reporting and recommendations.
- Support the iSales team as required with administrative tasks to include working on other skills projects that sit outside of the apprenticeship specific provision.
Person specification
You will have previous experience working in a school, college or for an independent training provider. Ideally you will have worked within an apprenticeship or adult education setting. However, if you can evidence that your quality assurance experience from other sectors transfers to the role, then please apply.
You will have good attention to detail and experience of internal and external audit or process improvement to include experience of planning a systematic investigation to confirm compliance with expected standards
You must have strong administrative skills and be able to prioritise workloads, work methodically, accurately, and effectively under pressure while maintaining a positive attitude.
You must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with good analytical and report writing skills. This should extend to working with both internal and external stakeholders e.g. government agencies and collaborative partners, employers, students, staff and senior management.
To be successful in this role you will need to be committed to educational values and continuous improvement. The following are required for the role:
- A quality improvement background ideally within the further education and skills sector.
- Knowledge of the requirements of the Ofsted education inspection framework and KCSIE.
- Excellent IT skills including the use of MS office.
- Ability to prepare minutes and prepare reports.
- Ability to provide constructive feedback to teaching staff.
- Ability to plan, organise and prioritise own workload.
In additional to the above, you will ideally possess the majority of the below:
- An understanding of apprenticeship standards.
- An understanding of ILR/DAS/PDSATs.
- An understanding of Safeguarding and Prevent.
- An understanding of GDPR and secure working practices.
- An understanding of H&S to include risk assessments.
- An understanding of EDI and the Equality Act.
Qualifications
- Level 5 teaching award is highly desirable.
- Level 3 assessor award, along with audit experience in an education setting, is essential.
- GCSE English and Maths A-C or equivalent required.
