We’re looking for an Accountant to own the financial side of our own business. You’ll keep our books clean, run the monthly close, track advisory fee revenue, and make sure the numbers our leadership relies on are accurate and on time.
This is a fully remote position, and you’ll work directly with our founder and operations team. In a firm our size, your work is visible and it matters. You won’t be one person in a large accounting department working on a small piece of the process. You’ll see the whole picture and help shape how our finances run as we grow.
This role suits someone who is careful with details, comfortable working independently, and wants to apply their accounting skills in financial services without the pace and politics of a large firm.
What You’ll Do
General Accounting and Month-End Close
- Maintain the general ledger and chart of accounts
- Record journal entries, accruals, prepaids, and adjustments
- Complete monthly bank, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliations
- Run the month-end and year-end close on a consistent schedule
- Prepare monthly financial statements, including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow
Revenue and Advisory Fee Accounting
- Record and reconcile quarterly advisory fee revenue against custodian deposits and billing reports
- Work with operations to investigate billing discrepancies, adjustments, and refunds
- Track receivables for any fees billed directly to clients
- Keep clear revenue reporting by client segment and service line
Accounts Payable and Expenses
- Process vendor invoices, bills, and payments on time
- Manage expense reports and company card activity
- Maintain vendor records and collect W-9s
- Prepare and file 1099s at year end
Payroll and Benefits Support
- Reconcile payroll and benefits activity to the general ledger
- Support 401(k) plan contribution tracking and reconciliation
- Coordinate with our payroll provider on accuracy and timing
Tax, Compliance, and Reporting
- Work with our outside CPA on business tax returns and year-end work
- Track state registration fees, licenses, and business filings
- Keep financial records organized and ready for regulatory review
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning for leadership
Process Improvement
- Document accounting procedures so everything is clear and repeatable
- Find ways to automate manual work and tighten controls
- Help evaluate and improve our accounting tools as we grow
What We’re Looking For
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 3+ years of hands-on accounting experience
- Strong understanding of GAAP and full-cycle accounting
- Experience running month-end close and preparing financial statements
- Proficiency with QuickBooks Online or a similar accounting platform
- Strong Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and reconciliations
- Ability to work independently and manage deadlines without close supervision
- High integrity and discretion with confidential financial information
Preferred
- Experience at a registered investment adviser (RIA), wealth management firm, or other financial services business
- Familiarity with advisory fee billing and custodial platforms such as Schwab, Fidelity, or Pershing
- Exposure to portfolio management or billing software such as Orion, Black Diamond, or Tamarac
- CPA, or progress toward a CPA
- Experience at a small firm where you owned the full accounting function
Compensation
$78,000 to $95,000 base salary, plus discretionary annual bonus and profit-sharing.
The anticipated base salary range(s) shown above are only for the indicated location(s) and may differ in other locations due to cost of living and labor considerations. Base salaries may vary based on factors such as skill, experience, and qualification for the role.
