The Software Engineer (Backend) designs and builds the core of an AI-driven financial data platform used by investors and portfolio companies for automated reporting, benchmarking, and informed decisions. - Own complete outcomes and continue improving them through iteration, documentation, and bug fixes. Engineers take responsibility for quality without a separate QA team.
- Partner with Product to scope and define features that advance shared goals and values.
- Contribute to the working culture and future hiring efforts, taking on varied responsibilities and working beyond familiar areas when needed.
Experience and Technical Skills
- At least six years of backend development experience and expertise in Python.
- A strong record of building and delivering web applications; experience creating them from scratch is particularly valuable.
- Understanding and consistent use of modern development practices, including Gitflow, continuous integration, and peer reviews.
Preferred experience
- Django framework experience.
- Expertise in modern infrastructure such as Kubernetes, Terraform, AWS, and CircleCI.
Remote Work and Compensation
This position is remote in the United States. The estimated annual salary is $180,000–$225,000, plus a competitive equity package. Actual compensation depends on experience and qualifications. U.S. pay is targeted at or above major technology-hub market rates.
The distributed team gathers for recurring offsites, with the whole team flown to a destination for planning and collaboration. Employees have full access to business metrics and financial information.
Benefits and Inclusion
- Medical, dental, and vision insurance is covered 100% for U.S. employees and their dependents.
- Flexible vacation without a fixed rule; employees commonly take three to four weeks in addition to holidays.
- Twelve weeks of paid parental leave for all new parents in the United States.
For international roles, compensation and family health coverage follow local market practices, and parental leave follows local standards. Equal employment opportunity applies regardless of protected status, and interview accommodations are available. Candidates are encouraged to apply even when their experience does not align perfectly with every qualification.
