Role Summary
We are seeking a Head of Technology and Security to lead and strategically shape our technology landscape and security posture. Reporting directly to the CTO, this role requires a seasoned leader who can balance oversight of essential operational functions, including our current optimal technology and desktop support for a 100% remote workforce, with a forward-thinking strategic focus.
A critical mandate will be driving our information security strategy, with a primary focus on achieving and maintaining ISO27001 certification. Additionally, this role is pivotal in championing the exploration and implementation of advanced AI agents to automate and enhance our operational processes, ensuring the robust, secure, and efficient running of Send's technology and security infrastructure on a 24x7 basis in a highly regulated Fintech environment.
Key Responsibilities
Technology & Security Strategy & Planning:
- Define, develop, and communicate the strategic roadmap for Send Payments' operational technology infrastructure, security architecture, and operational capabilities, aligning with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
- Contribute expert technical and security insights to the overall company strategic planning process.
- Lead technology and security budget planning, resource forecasting (local and nearshore), and capacity management.
Information Security & Compliance Leadership:
- Spearhead the design, implementation, and ongoing improvement of Send's comprehensive information security program.
- Drive all technology-related initiatives required for achieving and maintaining ISO27001 certification.
- Develop and enforce security policies, standards, and procedures compliant with relevant regulations (AUSTRAC, ASIC, APRA) and industry best practices.
- Oversee risk assessment and management activities, implementing effective controls to mitigate identified technology and security risks.
- Lead the planning and execution of security awareness training programs for all staff.
- Manage and refine the incident response plan for security breaches and critical service disruptions.
Technology Operations & Support Management:
- Ensure the continuous, efficient, and reliable operation of all Send Payments' technology systems and services on a 24x7 basis.
- Provide leadership and oversight for the Technology Support function, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, timely, and effective technical and desktop support for the 100% remote workforce across hardware, software, and connectivity.
- Implement and monitor Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for technology services and support, driving continuous improvement in service delivery.
- Oversee IT asset management, procurement, and lifecycle management for end-user devices and infrastructure components.
Security & Technology Evolution:
- Provide leadership on security (architectural) decisions, ensuring solutions are secure, and aligned with the strategic roadmap for our platforms.
- Evaluate and recommend new technologies and solutions to improve efficiency, security, and business capabilities.
AI Innovation & Process Automation:
- Champion the identification of business processes and areas ripe for automation using advanced AI agents.
- Lead the evaluation, piloting, and implementation of AI-driven automation solutions across the technology and potentially other functions.
- Stay abreast of developments in AI and automation relevant to the Fintech and payments industry.
Team & Resource Leadership:
- Build and develop a high-performing team of technology and security professionals (local and nearshore), fostering a culture of collaboration, security awareness, and continuous learning.
- Manage relationships with key technology vendors and third-party service providers, negotiating contracts and ensuring service delivery meets expectations.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Extensive experience (typically 8+ years) in a senior technology and security leadership role, with a significant portion spent within the Fintech, financial services, or a similarly highly regulated industry.
- Proven track record of developing and executing technology and information security strategies.
- Demonstrated success in implementing and managing information security frameworks, specifically with hands-on experience in achieving and maintaining ISO27001 certification.
- Deep technical understanding of cloud-based architectures, serverless computing, Microsoft 365, and modern security practices.
- Solid grasp of the regulatory landscape relevant to Send Payments (AUSTRAC, ASIC, APRA) and the implications for technology and security.
- Experience managing and optimizing IT support operations, including desktop support for a geographically dispersed, remote workforce.
- Strong interest in and practical understanding of AI and its application in automating business and technology processes.
- Excellent leadership, team management, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Relevant professional certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, ISO27001 Lead Implementer/Auditor, ITIL, AWS/Azure certifications) are highly regarded.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
