Hiring: Process Data Analyst – Offshore Drilling Rotating Assets
Location: Remote (Work from Home)
Experience: 5–8 years (flexible for exceptional candidates)
Reporting To: Head of Remote Diagnostics
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Marine, Instrumentation, or Chemical/Process Engineering, or an equivalent qualification.
- 5+ years of experience in process data analysis of rotating equipment on offshore drilling units or drill ships.
- Proven experience analyzing large time-series datasets from historian or SCADA systems and translating data trends into actionable diagnostic insights.
- Hands-on experience with platforms such as OSIsoft PI / AVEVA PI System, Wonderware, or Ignition.
- Strong understanding of rotating equipment performance, process parameters, and equipment fault identification.
- Ability to interpret trends, establish operating baselines, and identify abnormal operating conditions.
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, concise technical diagnostic reports.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in predictive maintenance, condition monitoring, reliability engineering, or remote diagnostics.
- Familiarity with vibration analysis and its application in rotating equipment fault diagnosis.
- Experience with anomaly detection, statistical analysis, multivariate analytics, or condition-based monitoring.
- Exposure to offshore drilling equipment and operational modes.
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Process Data Analyst to monitor the health and performance of rotating equipment on offshore drill ships. The role focuses on analyzing process and operational data from historians and SCADA systems to identify abnormal behavior, performance degradation, and developing faults before they lead to unplanned downtime.
You will work with parameters such as temperature, pressure, flow, speed, torque, motor current, power, lubrication oil, and hydraulic data. Vibration analysis will be used as a supporting diagnostic tool to validate findings and refine fault identification.
The position requires close collaboration with US-based stakeholders, with working hours designed to provide time-zone overlap.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and analyze process and operational data from offshore drilling rotating assets using historian trends, dashboards, and analytical tools.
- Identify early deviations in process parameters to detect potential equipment faults and system abnormalities.
- Compare actual equipment performance against historical baselines, OEM curves, and defined operating envelopes.
- Develop and maintain asset health baselines, normal operating models, and alarm thresholds across operating modes such as drilling, tripping, dynamic positioning (DP), transit, and standby.
- Correlate multiple process parameters across time, load, and environmental conditions to distinguish genuine faults from normal operational variations.
- Identify sensor and data quality issues, including drift, flatlines, spikes, and incorrect scaling.
- Develop and fine-tune rule-based diagnostics, multivariate models, and anomaly detection logic in collaboration with data science teams.
- Review vibration data, including overall levels, spectra, and trends, to validate process-based findings and support fault diagnosis.
- Prepare clear diagnostic reports covering anomaly severity, probable causes, supporting evidence, recommended actions, and urgency.
- Escalate critical findings promptly to offshore maintenance teams, rig management, and onshore reliability engineers.
- Support onboarding of new assets, instrumentation tags, and data sources.
Why Join Us?
- Work remotely on offshore drilling asset health and performance monitoring.
- Contribute to predictive maintenance and early fault detection initiatives.
- Collaborate with US-based technical and operational stakeholders.
- Apply data analytics and engineering expertise to improve equipment reliability and reduce unplanned downtime.
