Visual Communication Victoria (VCV) is seeking a skilled and passionate Education Officer to lead the development of high-quality educational resources and support the delivery of professional learning opportunities in Visual Communication Design (VCD). This is a part-time (0.6 FTE) ongoing role, based remotely with occasional travel for events, meetings, or resource development.

The Education Officer plays a key role within the organisation, working closely with the VCV Council and broader stakeholder network. Responsibilities include coordinating and promoting events, such as the annual VisCon Conference at the NGV, managing communications across our website, newsletter, and social media platforms, and reporting regularly to Council. The successful candidate will have strong communication and organisational skills, a collaborative mindset, and a deep understanding of Visual Communication Design in the Victorian educational context.

What we're looking for:

You’ll bring strong disciplinary knowledge and demonstrated experience in Visual Communication Design, particularly within education. Ideally, you will have a sound understanding of both the VCE VCD Study Design and Victorian Curriculum F–10 Version 2.0. Exceptional skills with Adobe Creative suite and capabilities and confidence with social media and website management. Administration experience with Google accounts would be highly valuable.

Skills and experience:

  • Demonstrated experience in education, administration, or program coordination within the visual arts or design education sector
  • Proven ability to develop and deliver professional learning, events, and resources that support the work of Visual Communication Design educators across Victoria
  • Experience contributing to the strategic planning, policy development, and implementation of initiatives as part of an education-focused leadership team
  • Demonstrated capacity to manage major functions, projects, and events—such as conferences, teacher resources, or industry partnerships—within operational and administrative targets
  • Deep understanding of the curriculum, challenges, and professional needs of teachers in Visual Communication Design, particularly in the Victorian educational context
  • Strong disciplinary knowledge in art or design education, with a demonstrated ability to provide subject- specific leadership, mentorship, and pedagogical expertise
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders including educators, industry professionals, and partner organisations
  • Exceptional organisational and time-management skills, with the capacity to work autonomously, meet deadlines, and balance multiple priorities
  • Proficiency in relevant digital tools including Google Workspace, website CMS platforms, Mailchimp, and Adobe Creative Suite for communication, design, and resource development

  • To sponsor or support activities that may assist Visual Communication Design teachers in the practice of, and development in, their profession
  • To promote educational research and investigate and provide for publication of the results and purposes
  • To undertake the publishing of resources and other information in the field to assist the teaching and learning of Visual Communication Design
  • To carry out the aforesaid objectives without private gain to the association or its members
