About The Role

We are seeking a full-time, remote Human Resources Manager to join our team and lead the daily operations and strategic development of Magpie’s Human Resources functions. The ideal candidate will serve as the primary HR resource for both employees and management, ensuring that HR practices support our organizational growth and compliance requirements. This role involves managing recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, benefits administration, HR policies, and records management. The Human Resources Manager will play a pivotal role in developing scalable HR processes that align with Magpie’s expanding workforce and evolving business needs. The position demands an individual who can independently handle routine HR issues, proactively research and resolve complex challenges, and collaborate with legal and other specialized advisors when necessary.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Management, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 7+ years of progressively responsible Human Resources experience, including managing a broad range of HR functions independently.
  • Proven experience in recruiting, hiring, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, benefits, leave administration, and employee separation processes.
  • Solid understanding of federal, state, and local employment laws across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Ability to research unfamiliar HR issues, evaluate options, and develop practical solutions.
  • Experience developing, implementing, and refining HR policies, procedures, workflows, and documentation.
  • Strong judgment skills to determine when issues can be handled independently or require escalation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage with executives, managers, employees, and external advisors.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently in a remote environment.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary HR resource for employees and managers, providing guidance on employment matters.
  • Manage recruitment and hiring processes, including job descriptions, postings, candidate coordination, offers, background checks, and pre-employment screening.
  • Oversee employee onboarding and offboarding activities, ensuring smooth transitions and compliance with company policies.
  • Administer employee benefits, leave programs, PTO, and maintain accurate personnel records and HR documentation.
  • Support managers with employee relations issues, performance management, and workplace concerns.
  • Develop, review, and improve HR policies, procedures, workflows, forms, and templates to support organizational growth.
  • Identify gaps, risks, and opportunities within existing HR practices and implement effective solutions.
  • Monitor and incorporate applicable federal, state, and local employment laws into HR practices as the company expands into new regions.
  • Coordinate with various departments such as Contracts, Compliance, IT & Security, Payroll, and Benefits to ensure HR processes align with business needs and regulatory requirements.
  • Research and develop approaches for complex HR issues, engaging legal counsel or external experts when necessary.
  • Build scalable HR systems and practices to manage routine people-related matters efficiently as the organization grows.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package.
  • Flexible remote work environment supporting work-life balance.
  • Opportunities for professional development and career growth.
  • Collaborative and innovative company culture focused on continuous improvement.
  • Participation in a mission-driven organization making a meaningful impact in healthcare analytics.
