We are looking for a Social Media Manager who’s full of creative ideas, is passionate about the newest trends in social media, and is eager to develop and expand the social media presence of a rapidly growing sleep accessories brand (Mantasleep.com). The ideal candidate will be confident working autonomously, proactive in exploring innovative content ideas, and committed to managing our social media presence.
Proficiency in English as a first language is essential for this role.
Time zone: Full-time within South Africa
Salary: USD2500 - USD3000 per month, depending on experience (willing to negotiate for the right candidate)
Trial Period: All candidates will complete a paid trial assignment - more details below.
👀 WHO WE ACTUALLY NEED (and who we don’t)
- This isn’t for freelancers moonlighting or wanting a side hustle.
- It’s not for someone who feels uncomfortable taking initiative, and who may need a lot of handholding.
This is however for someone who:
- Has at least 1 year of experience managing social media accounts.
- Has a strong creative eye, contributing engaging content ideas for our social channels.
- Is detail-oriented, responsible for the management of our social media calendar, ensuring brand guidelines are followed.
- Passionately follows social media trends, with an understanding of strategies for account growth.
- Demonstrates clear written communication, creating briefs for designers and answering comments on social media channels.
- Is self-motivated, able to work independently with minimal supervision, taking initiative when necessary.
- Is reliable and consistent with posting and delivering high-quality content.
- Is confident shooting content with our products, a willingness to speak on camera would be a huge bonus!
- Is tech-savvy, resourceful, and comfortable with online work.
- Is proficient in Instagram, TikTok, X, Meta, LinkedIn, etc.
🎯 WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
- Managing our Instagram and TikTok social media content calendars, including both evergreen and campaign-specific content.
- Reposting content onto additional channels (X, Meta, LinkedIn etc.)
- Collaborating on briefs for graphic designers and brainstorming new, engaging content ideas for posts.
- Shooting raw images and static content of our products for use on social media platforms.
- Creating simple video content featuring our products, including talking to the camera and demonstrating the product in situ.
- Willingness to experiment with live selling on TikTok and Instagram.
- Acting as a community manager by responding to customer comments on our profiles (including Reddit) and engaging in outreach across other platforms.
- Overseeing whitelisting and collaborative partnerships with creators and influencers for reposting on both organic and paid channels (potentially including TikTok Shop).
- Managing our social listening tool, Archive, to analyze data and identify emerging trends.
- Tailoring all content to meet our key performance indicators: increasing followers, engagement, and organic revenue.

- Paid test assignment: a realistic task (2–3 days to complete) that reflects the kind of work you’d actually do here.
- Final Interview: Usually with our Rockstar CEO, as a final seal of approval
- Offer + onboarding: if it’s a match, we move quickly
