Remote Working model: occasional visits to prestigious London Offices and board meetings
Basic Salary £50k-£55k (Full time equivalent based on 35 hour week)
Permanent Role, Part Time (25-28 hours per week)
Job Purpose: The Financial Controller will ensure the smooth delivery of robust and compliant financial systems to support the activities of the organisation. They will also be responsible for providing sound accounting and financial advice and support to the Charity Trustees and Secretariat whilst ensuring legal compliance in respect to financial reporting, contracts and policies.
Duties:
- All aspects of financial controls including statutory and regulatory requirements, financial reporting including the production of the annual and quarterly management accounts and ad hoc accounts and reports as requested by the trustees
- Decision making in respect of the coordination and delivery of the budgets and the regular review of income and expenditure to ensure costs are managed
- Plan and coordinate the annual budget setting process, develop appropriate financial budgetary ownership and control and work with Trustees to implement
- Design and develop cash flow forecasts to assist with financial planning
- Set up annual budget with appropriate reforecast schedule
- Complete quarterly VAT returns (partial exemption).
- Complete annual P11Ds.
- Train non-finance team on correct application of VAT codes.
The successful candidate will be an experienced Membership/Charity Financial Controller, accustomed to
- Experience of producing accounts compliant with the Charities SORP
- Good understanding of VAT relating to charities
- Experience of working with high level Boards and Committees
- Ability to translate strategic goals into operational plans and manage objectives
- Able to analyse financial information and make recommendations to support the financial strategy
- Proven ability to implement strategies and to manage, monitor and evaluate progress
