Job Type: Permanent, Full Time or near Full Time Reports to: Membership Manager
Salary Range: $80,000 – $90,000 FTE, commensurate with experience
About Us:
NAWIC is a passionate and mission-driven not-for-profit organisation dedicated to women working in the construction industry and the supporting sectors across the built environment. NAWIC advocates for gender equality within the workplace and drives changes that will aid in the increased recruitment, retention, and advancement of women within all facets of the construction industry.
NAWIC has chapters across every state and territory, representing women around the country. NAWIC Australia is part of a global NAWIC network with international chapters in USA, NZ, UK, Ireland, South Africa, PNG, Canada. 2025 marks NAWIC’s 30th year.
NAWIC is a volunteer-led organisation working with a passionate group of approximately 400 volunteers.
Position Overview
The Business Development Officer plays a key role in expanding NAWIC’s reach and impact across Australia through strategic relationship management, partnership development, and member engagement initiatives.
Reporting to the Membership Manager, this role focuses on identifying new opportunities to grow corporate memberships, foster business partnerships, and build strong engagement with key stakeholders across the construction industry.
The Business Development Officer will regularly represent NAWIC at industry events and meetings, requiring a confident and professional presenter who can clearly articulate NAWIC’s mission and value proposition.
This role involves extensive travel across Australia to meet with prospective and existing partners, understand business needs, and identify ways NAWIC can support and collaborate.
Key Responsibilities_Business Growth and Partnership Development_
- Identify and pursue opportunities for new organisational memberships, sponsorships, and partnerships aligned with NAWIC’s mission.
- Develop tailored proposals and presentations for potential partners and organisational members.
- Conduct industry research to identify organisations with shared values and potential for engagement.
- Collaborate with the Membership Manager and team members to meet growth targets and deliver measurable results in membership expansion and retention.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing corporate partners to ensure ongoing engagement and satisfaction.
Stakeholder and Industry Engagement
- Represent NAWIC at industry events to promote membership and organisational initiatives.
- Deliver presentations, pitches, and briefings to a range of organisational audiences, industry bodies, and potential partners.
- Work with Chapter Presidents and Membership Manager to identify local business opportunities and provide support in corporate outreach.
- Provide insights and feedback from industry interactions to inform membership strategy and program development.
Collaboration and Reporting
- Collaborate closely with the Membership, Communications, Advocacy and Operations teams to align business development activities with campaigns and events.
- Maintain accurate records of leads, meetings, and outcomes.
- Provide regular reports to the Membership Manager on pipeline activity, partnership progress, and market trends.
- Contribute to membership campaigns, engagement plans, and strategic initiatives that enhance NAWIC’s visibility and value.
Operational Support
- Work with the Membership Manager to refine membership offerings based on industry feedback.
- Contribute to the development of marketing collateral, case studies, and success stories to showcase member and partner impact.
Qualifications and Experience
- Proven experience in business development, stakeholder engagement, or partnership management, ideally within a membership-based or not-for-profit organisation.
- Strong presentation and public speaking skills with the ability to confidently represent NAWIC in a variety of forums.
- Demonstrated experience building and maintaining successful client or partner relationships.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Strong organisational and time-management abilities, with capacity to manage travel and competing priorities.
- Proficiency with CRM systems (preferably iMIS or similar) and Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint).
- Willingness and ability to travel across Australia, on an as needed basis.
