About the role

ABOUT THE ROLE

Optum WellMed Florida is building the state’s premier value-based care platform, with more than 100 primary care locations serving Medicare Advantage and other patient populations through a full-risk model. Supported by TPG Capital and operating in a build-and-scale environment following a recent carve-out, the organization is positioned for accelerated growth.

The Manager, FP&A is the finance team’s systems owner and a hands-on generalist who keeps core planning and reporting running. This leader brings deep Oracle knowledge, helps choose and implement the team’s FP&A planning tool, and is comfortable moving between a variance analysis, a headcount model, and a systems fix in the same week.

Reporting to the SVP, Financial Planning & Analysis, this role partners with Accounting, Finance Systems, IT, Human Resources, Operations, and the Strategic Finance and Operations Finance leads. This is a remote position however candidates residing in the Greater Tampa Bay area will be considered.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Financial Systems and Operations

•      Own Oracle and the finance team’s planning and reporting systems as lead user, including setup, maintenance, and data quality.

•      Help evaluate and select the team’s FP&A planning tool, then lead its implementation and adoption.

•      Translate leadership’s planning and reporting needs into system requirements, so the tools deliver what the business needs.

•      Automate recurring reports and analyses using BI, automation, and AI tools to reduce manual spreadsheet work.

•      Document finance processes, controls, and reporting definitions so the team works from one set of numbers.

Monthly Close Analysis and Reporting

•      Analyze monthly results against budget, forecast, and prior periods, and explain the drivers of each variance.

•      Write clear monthly commentary for finance leadership, the executive team, and clinic and market leaders.

•      Build and maintain the monthly reporting package and recurring management reports.

•      Work with Accounting during close to review results, flag unusual items, and improve accuracy.

Workforce Planning and Labor Analytics

•      Own the headcount and labor cost model, including positions, open roles, vacancies, overtime, and contract labor.

•      Partner with Human Resources and Operations on staffing plans, new positions, and compensation changes.

•      Reconcile headcount and payroll data between HR, payroll, and finance systems.

Budgeting and Forecasting

•      Coordinate the annual budget and periodic forecasts, including templates, timelines, and consolidation.

•      Build driver-based forecasts for revenue, labor, and operating expenses.

•      Support the Strategic Finance and Operations Finance leads with data, models, and analysis.

YOUR FIRST 90 DAYS

•      Map how data flows through Oracle and the current reporting tools, and close the gaps that slow down close and reporting.

•      Gather leadership’s requirements for an FP&A planning tool, evaluate the options, and recommend a path forward.

•      Take ownership of the monthly reporting package and variance commentary.

•      Build a reconciled headcount and labor cost model ahead of the organization’s first full budgeting cycle.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING

Required Qualifications

•      Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a quantitative discipline.

•      5+ years of experience in FP&A, financial analysis, or corporate finance, including month-end variance analysis and reporting.

•      Strong hands-on Oracle experience as a power user (ERP and/or EPM).

•      Experience with at least one FP&A planning tool, such as Adaptive Planning, Anaplan, Oracle EPM, or Pigment.

•      Experience with headcount, labor cost, or workforce planning models.

•      Advanced Excel skills and clear writing for leadership commentary.

•      Comfort handling a broad mix of work in a newly formed, build-from-scratch organization.

Preferred Qualifications

•      Experience with more than one FP&A planning tool, and a view on how they compare.

•      Experience selecting or implementing finance systems, on either the company side or the consulting side.

•      Healthcare experience, especially multi-site physician practices, Medicare Advantage, or value-based care.

•      Experience with Power BI, Tableau, SQL, or other BI tools.

•      Experience in a private equity-backed or post-carve-out organization.

•      CPA, CMA, MBA, or other relevant credentials.

WHY JOIN
